WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT
The sideways part is correct, but it takes a little more to explain what drifting really is all about. It’s not just flooring the throttle; it takes a delicate balance to keep the car sideways...
1. INTRO
Drifting is a driving style in which the driver uses the throttle, brakes, clutch, gear shifting and steering input to keep the car in a state of oversteer while manoeuvring from turn to turn. Drifters emphasise car control by coordinating the amount of countersteer (or opposite lock) with the simultaneous modulation of the throttle and brakes to shift the weight balance of the car back and forth through the turns. Furthermore, they strive to achieve this while adhering to the standard racing
lines (or designated “clipping points” if drifting in competition) and maintaining extreme slip angles.
Drifting is the youngest and only motorsport on four wheels where drivers are evaluated by four criteria from the judges.

3. COMPETITION
Each driver has 2 or 3 Qualy-Runs that are driven individually. The top 16 or 32 drivers qualify for the Twin Battles.
4. TWIN BATTLES
Two drivers are competing head to head in two runs per battle. Each driver is once in a lead and once in a chase postion. Judges evaluate both in four already mentioned criteria (A, B, C, D). The lead driver must be able to clear the course as good as possible. Chasing driver needs to do the same as lead driver or better and get as close to his car as possible.
